2011 Starlight showcase

It was a pleasure to be able to welcome over 300 people to the first Starlight Synchro’ Christmas Showcase 2011, hopefully the first of many. The evening was a melody of skating styles, with performances from our own four synchro‘ teams and guest skates from some of the best singles skaters and ice dancers in the country.

It was an important occasion for our synchro‘ club. The ticket sales will help the club fund costumes for the four teams, essential for our teams to compete in April at the Scottish Championships. For many of our club skaters, the showcase was be their first public performance, a crucial confidence building occasion which is key to their development. An emotional rocky road that they all coped with fantastically.

A massive thank you is also due to our guest skaters from East Kilbride & Stirling Figure Skating Clubs. Their performances were essential in pulling together the programme of varied skating styles and the standard of skating blew everyone away. Thanks also to Yvonne Cameron, Mark Hanretty and Lorna Patterson who’ve coached the skaters in the solo performances.
A special thanks due to Rhiannon Morris (coach), Lisa Morrison (Trasurer) and Collette Norwood (secretary), without the dedication of these ladies the club would have been able to pull off this event.
