What is synchro skating?

Synchronised skating is the fastest growing discipline of figure skating. It combines the athleticism and artistry of singles, pairs and ice dancing. It’s a highly technical form of team skating characterised by speed, accuracy, intricate formations and transitions. It usually consists of team of 8 to 16 skaters who perform side by side on the ice.

While figure skating is traditionally an individual sport, synchro skating offers all the benefits of team unity, builds self confidence, teaches good sportsmanship and creates new lifelong friendships while also improving your skating skills at a competitive level.

Why Starlight?

Starlight Synchro Club started in 2010, starting with one team and growing to the club we are today. Starlight train at the Peak in Stirling and Time Capsule in Coatbridge and attract skaters from all over central Scotland.

We currently have four competitive teams and an adult development team. The teams cover various ages and abilities and compete in different categories. Some of our previous skaters have progressed to skate with Junior & Senior teams within international & world championships.

With Synchro successes and challenges are shared with your teammates. Along the way you make lifelong friendships. More than just improving your skating, synchro enriches the lives of our members and gives wider life skills.

We try to create a positive learning environment and embrace a growth mindset in our coaching and for all our skaters.
